The Korg MS-20 is a monophonic synth designed in the late 1970s. It plays one note at a time, but it has two oscillators and a sample and hold circuit that can be patched to make a kind of duo-phony. If you only play one note at a time with this patching, the second oscillator repeats the previous note. It adds a shifting harmonic structure to melodies and riffs that I find rewardingly hypnotic. This track grew out of playing with that trick, and survived hours of jamming. The track names are poetic play on that stepping, hypnotic pattern. The two versions are simply a longer and shorter take, because sometimes you want to wig out more.
